Product Manager, Growth
About Bright Harbor
Bright Harbor empowers communities to recover from disaster. Our platform reveals what survivors need, launches programs that get aid moving quickly, and coordinates every stakeholder so a community can work as one.
Our mission is to help every disaster survivor find their way home. We put them at the center of their recovery and give the governments serving them real-time visibility into every case, every gap, and every step forward.
Disasters are getting bigger and more frequent, and helping communities survive them and thrive is the challenge of our time. We build for the moment everything else falls apart. If you want your work to matter on the hardest days people will ever face, come build with us.
About the job
As Growth Product Manager at Bright Harbor, you help every disaster survivor who accesses the Survivor Portal get more funding, recover faster, and keep coming back until they're home.
When a survivor first finds the Survivor Portal, through a state program, a VOAD, or on their own, they're often having the worst week of their life. Whether they sign up, find the right programs, apply, and come back for the next step decides how much help they actually get. You'll own the product work that moves them through that journey.
The journey runs sign up → program discovery → applications → funds or services received → return visits. Your job is to find where survivors stall, figure out why, and ship the changes that move them forward. Your surfaces are onboarding, Funding Finder, applications, Recovery Guides, and the reminders that bring people back. Your north star is how deeply survivors engage with the Survivor Portal across their recovery.
This is a role with real ownership from day one. You'll sit on our Product team, report to our Director of Product, and partner day to day with engineering, design, Operations, and Lifecycle Marketing. You'll propose the growth bets, make the case for them, and own each one once it's approved: the metrics, the experiments, and what ships. Your scope grows with your track record, and the role is built as a path to senior PM for a product manager with strong consumer instincts who wants to move real numbers on something that matters.
It's okay if you aren't an expert in disaster recovery yet. You'll have the full power of Bright Harbor's expertise, and all our partners, to help you.
What you'll do
Own the funnel metrics: define each stage, set the baselines, and report weekly on where survivors move forward and where they stall.
Run the experiment pipeline: test across onboarding, program discovery, applications, and re-engagement flows; ship what wins, cut what doesn't, and write up what you learned.
Simplify the hard steps: make complex steps simple enough for a stressed person to finish on their phone, in English and Spanish.
Bring survivors back: partner with Lifecycle Marketing on the text, email, and in-app moments that bring survivors back at the right time without wearing out their attention.
Prototype and ship fast: prototype ideas, write clear specs, and work with engineering and design to get changes into survivors' hands within days.
Know how survivors use the app: live in PostHog and our other analytics tools to understand how survivors move through and engage with the app, and instrument what you ship so every release answers a question.
Go to survivors directly: run your own research, embed with them in the field, and understand their problems firsthand.
Turn frontline insight into product: take what Operations and our government partners see in the field and turn it into concrete product changes.
Use AI with judgment: use AI to move faster and go deeper, and know where human judgment has to take over.
Shape the roadmap: bring a point of view to roadmap planning, backed by what the data and survivors are telling you.
About you
2 to 5 years in product management, or in a growth, analytics, or product-adjacent role at a consumer app with a clear path into PM.
A track record of moving a consumer funnel or engagement metric, and the ability to walk us through the experiment, the data, and what you'd do differently.
Comfort digging into data yourself and building your own funnels and cohorts in tools like PostHog and Metabase.
Experience designing for complex, high-stakes customer journeys, and real empathy for the people in them (benefits, insurance claims, healthcare, and financial aid all count).
Fluency with AI and a habit of finding new ways to make it work for you.
High agency: you take ownership, move fast, and ask for help early when you're stuck.
Based in Austin or willing to relocate, and excited to work in person with the team.
Genuine care for the mission and a desire to have your work matter.
Bonus: experience in disaster recovery, benefits, or govtech.
