About Bright Harbor

Bright Harbor empowers communities to recover from disaster. Our platform reveals what survivors need, launches programs that get aid moving quickly, and coordinates every stakeholder so a community can work as one.

Our mission is to help every disaster survivor find their way home. We put them at the center of their recovery and give the governments serving them real-time visibility into every case, every gap, and every step forward.

Disasters are getting bigger and more frequent, and helping communities survive them and thrive is the challenge of our time. We build for the moment everything else falls apart. If you want your work to matter on the hardest days people will ever face, come build with us.

About the job

When a disaster hits one of our government partners, you're on the ground. As Recovery Operations Lead, you deploy to the hardest-hit areas, embed with state and local teams running the response, and own the deployment of Bright Harbor from the Emergency Operations Center to the community. You ensure the platform is up and running, that those who need to use it are trained and confident, and that survivors get help quickly. When the client is facing the most stressful moment of their career, you're the person who makes Bright Harbor work for them.

This is equal parts project management, relationship ownership, and field operations. You don't have a standing team. Instead, you spin up a deployment team with us for each disaster, then lead it on the ground: building the plan, aligning everyone involved, and driving the whole thing to a real outcome under real pressure. You lead people who don't report to you, from our staff to the client's staff to contractors and county personnel, and you keep them rowing in the same direction as the situation changes by the hour.

It's demanding. Expect 30% or more travel, and it's bursty by nature: quiet periods punctuated by intense, sometimes weeks-long deployments that kick off with little notice, because disasters don't schedule themselves. You'll be on the ground wherever you're needed, often for extended stretches, in conditions that are rarely comfortable. For the right person, that's the appeal. This is real work at the moment it matters most, and you'll see the impact directly in people's lives.

What you'll do

  • Deploy to disaster sites on short notice and own the on-the-ground rollout of Bright Harbor for our government partners

  • Embed in the EOC and the community, and become the trusted Bright Harbor presence for the client during the response

  • Build and own the deployment project plan: scope, timeline, milestones, and accountability for it going well

  • Spin up a deployment team with us for each event, then lead it on the ground without formal authority

  • Train emergency managers, case managers, and government staff to use the platform confidently

  • Own the client relationship in the field, keeping senior stakeholders aligned and confident under pressure

  • Coordinate across everyone involved: our teams, the client's staff, contractors, and local personnel

  • Translate what you see on the ground back to our product and operations teams so the platform keeps getting better

  • Keep the deployment moving as conditions change hour to hour, staying organized and calm in the chaos

About you

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in project management or operations with a track record of getting complex things done

  • Experience leading in high stakes operating environments like emergency management, incident response or military operations

  • The ability to stay calm, build a plan, and lead people through chaos. This is the core of the job, and it's what we're really screening for

  • A background that built those instincts under real pressure. That could be top-tier management consulting, military leadership, disaster or emergency response, or another high-stakes environment where you led when it counted

  • Elite project management: you build the plan, own the details, and drive it to an outcome under pressure

  • A gift for managing and aligning senior stakeholders, earning trust through competence and composure rather than tenure

  • Relentless hustle and a sharp mind, the kind of person who figures it out and makes it happen no matter what

  • Disaster experience is a plus, whether professional emergency management, disaster recovery, or volunteer response, but it's not required. If you've led through chaos elsewhere, we want to hear from you

  • Willing and able to travel 30% or more, often on short notice and sometimes for weeks at a time. Austin preferred, but we're open to remote for the right person

  • Genuine care for the mission and a desire to have your work matter
